Featuring the popular Spanish Voice Actor "Andrés Turnes"!

Andres Turner as Terry in the spanish anime

Andres Turnes is a theatrical actor who lent his voice to Terry and Anthony's characters in the Argentinian version of the anime. On October, 2006, he gave personal, recorded interview in spanish and you can here it here.

The following is a summary of the interview, kindly translated by Carlos (cahaaz)! Gracias, amigo!

The person conducting the interview comments that after 30 years since the series hit the TV networks, it remains alive. Mr. Andrés Tunes (the voice of Anthony and Terry) was an actor himself for theater, not T.V.

He says that the dubbing was made with actors and not only broadcasters. He speaks on how the team of dubbing took classes for such purpose. He remembers that working with them was a pleasant experience. It was something different to those standards of the late 70's. He mentions that the idea was to transmit "feeling" through the characters and not just a voice doing plain talking.

He mentions his experience regarding a trip to Chile where the acceptance from moms and their kids was so special. He says that giving just small words from the dialogues made people happy.

He also mentions that a Chilean young man told him during that visit to Chile that he, the young man, has kind memories of watching Candy 25 years ago because at that time they, at their home, they had no T.V. so he and his mother walked several blocks to get to the house of a relative to watch it. That is what makes fond memories of his mother and Candy.

Then he talks about the anime. For him the most important point is that even in adversity, Candy has the enthusiasm for living, her deep love for Anthony.

He also explains how he managed, even with the same voice, Anthony and Terry, but gave both characters the different "feeling" to each one.

Then he talks about what he hears on how dubbing is being made present compared to the techniques used in the 70's. Today's (technique), he says, is more "cold". Back then, the dubbing team worked together every single session.
